The Background

Beautycounter's mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. That starts with empowering their passionate consultant salesforce, particularly in the first 30 days of sign-up. While Beautycounter offered a generous incentive program, they lacked the tools new consultants needed to track their progress and sell on the go. As a result, new consultants often struggled to understand the program and get started with the business.

Setting the strategy

The company knew their consultants were eager for a mobile app and wanted a clear plan for delivering on the enthusiasm. We worked with them to first craft a mobile strategy and then conceptualize an app that would meet two key needs. The first was ensuring new consultants felt guided, supported, and motivated in their first 90 days. The second was giving all consultants an easy and beautiful way to take customer orders from their phone.

Creating ‘My Counter’

To make it easy for new consultants to get started, we translated the new consultant program, "Start Counting", into a motivational tracker and push notification series.

The tracker is built around a dynamic dashboard that updates for each stage of the program, with helpful training links and explanations throughout.

The Ecommerce

For the commerce component of the app, we first assessed and stabilized the code that the company had from an earlier app attempt. We then re-focused the product re-designed, and added features to create a beautiful catalog and give consultants the mobile ordering experience they'd been missing.

Throughout both parts of the project, we worked closely with the internal tech team to align on the API needs and timelines.
